This is an evergreen coniferous shrub or small tree with a pyramidal shape, it has a stiff branches and short, linear, dark-green leaves. It produces small, berry-like, blue-black fruits. It's known for its attractive fruit, neat, compact form and its dark green needles. It prefers partial to full shade and well-drained, acidic soil. It can reach a mature height of 6-10 ft. It's native to China and Japan, it's commonly used as a hedge, foundation plant, or as an specimen in gardens.
