One of the most popular members of the Ficus family, the Fiddle Leaf Fig is a perfect focal point if you can situate them in a floor-standing container where the plant is allowed to grow to 6 feet or more. (The trees commonly reach heights of 40 feet or more outdoors in tropical landscapes.)
Since they are native to the tropics, mimicking these conditions to the best of your ability is best for the plant. Still, they are fortunately relatively robust plants that can withstand less-than-perfect conditions for a reasonably long time.
Provide bright indirect light and consistent warm temperatures. Can benefit from a few hours of direct sun, just not harsh mid-afternoon sun. Plants that are kept too dark will fail to grow rapidly.
Thoroughly water once a week or so (keep a regular schedule) when the top 2in of soil is completely dry. Make sure the soil is well-draining and don’t allow it to sit in water or it will drop leaves and suffer from root rot.
Highly toxic for children and pets when ingested.
